@CharlieDVan: Mal has a very dark past. We’ve only touched some of it, David’s betrayal of Mal’s trust was a start of Mal losing himself into the darkness of the vampire world.

I'm curious about learning more about David and this is only the second time we've seen him. We know he used Mal as bait a lot, but I wonder how he found and used Mal in the first place

@bwillett: It’s covered in the novel We all feel better in the dark. In the Night Boys novels, we first meet Francis who was literally kidnapped by Mr V and his vampire hunting team who hired him as bait and eventually he teams with Christy ( the reluctant energy vampire) as full time Vampire Hunters who want to be DJs . Mr V, Max and Miss Elizabeth were classic vampire hunters, Miss Elizabeth is David’s mother. She trained him as a hunter and then only realized late that he was using children as bait. they had a falling out but she never could get him to stop. David works with Churches to get his bait, they also hired him to clear out graveyards where vampires have thier homes. david used his position of power to abuse children. it’s a story of Power and Abuse , Mal was a troubled child already gay when he was brought in to work for David. David may have been totally different when he was young but he because tainted and infected by evil creatures so slowly he ceased to be human and no one knew it. he preyed on both Mal and Simon while they were teenagers. Mal and Simon struggled with abuse=love because they grew up in a abusive home. all three Thorsby siblings are screwed up, but three wanting to change for real love.
