For Nona, hunger became the only emotion that existed. The fundamental particle of her reality. One day, Nona met a wolf. A wolf whose reality was made from a very similar emotion. This wolf was Rostislav Konovalov, who would kill Nona's father, burn her village to the ground, and raise her into a Cannibal.
