Oh, you do hand-drawn art too!
I haven’t used an eraser in about 20 years.
I get them as freebies sometimes, so they’ve just been stacking up in my cabinet.
tamakimikesaka
@NeonKitty1236-2point0
A kneaded eraser would be perfect for you.
You can shape it however you like.
Once you start using one, it’s hard to go back to regular erasers.

Agentny003
Maybe it’s because your teacher has a strong passion for art. Can’t say I blame her. 😁
tamakimikesaka
@Agentny003
Haha, maybe that’s true.
When I get into drawing, I can go for two or three hours straight. I honestly thought that was normal.
This episode is about my adult class. It’s a two-hour class,
and we take a 15-minute break about an hour in.
My kids class is only an hour and fifteen minutes,
so I assumed they didn’t need a break.
But yesterday, one of my kids students (she’s eight) said about forty minutes in,
“Tamaki, I’m a little tired.”
I was surprised.
Then I remembered — elementary school classes are only 45 minutes long.
I guess I need to start adding a break for my kids students too.

She’s one of my adult class students, not related.
She’s just so cute, like a white cat, so that’s how I drew her.

Looks like it’s neither.
Apparently, they’re related to stink bugs.
And they smell really bad if you squish them.

No art is perfect. A little distortion doesn’t hurt; in fact, it makes it pop out more.

Agentny003
You guys call Wednesday “Water Day”, here in the U.S, we call it “Hump Day” 😄
tamakimikesaka
@Agentny003
“Hump Day” is a great word — it really makes you aware that Wednesday is the middle of the week.
In Japan, our weekdays are named after things like water, fire, the moon, wood, and earth.
Friday is 金曜日(Gold Day), so people naturally get excited.

They’re children so of course they won’t, but if you a moment and talk with them, it’ll balance the relationship. 😊
tamakimikesaka
@Agentny003
When I think about scolding them, I’m always very careful about the timing.
Should I say something now?
Or should I wait a bit and see how things go?
In some ways, this feels even more important than teaching drawing.
They don’t seem scared of me right now,
but if I make the wrong move, our relationship could fall apart quickly.
So I want to keep interacting with them with kindness and care.

@Agentny003
Apparently it tastes kind of like Yakult.
In Japan, drinks with weird names come out sometimes.
When I was a student, I used to drink one named “Gomen ne” (“Sorry”).
The flavor was hard to describe—sweet, kind of milky, kind of like Yakult—but I liked it.

An ellipse is similar to an oval if you think about it.
tamakimikesaka
@Agentny003
Yeah, exactly.
When I draw eggs, it helps to think of them as ellipses, but I make the top a little pointy, so I think an oval is cuter than a perfectly precise ellipse.

@NeonKitty1236-2point0
Hi! Thanks for asking!
“Mikesaka” is pronounced Mee-keh-sah-kah.
It’s actually not my real name, it’s a pen name.
In Japan, Tamaki is a real first name,
but Mikesaka isn’t a real family name. I basically made it up.
So don’t worry, you’re not dumb at all!
I just chose a pen name that’s a little tricky to pronounce.
You can call me Tamaki if you like!
And hearing that you want to draw fan art of my character makes me really happy too.
I’d love to see it!
I have accounts on several social media platforms,
so you can probably find me if you search for Tamaki Mikesaka.
Do you use any social media?
NeonKitty1236-2point0 1 day ago
@tamakimikesaka: well I don't use that many social media apps, I can get one though. Well I guess I use YouTube but I searched you on there and nothing showed up so uh, yeah. (sorry for my really bad grammar)
