At the heart of the narrative is the pursuit of victory, yet the text systematically dismantles the concept of glory as a fulfilling end state. Huey enters the tournament equipped with specialized, energy-containing gauntlets crafted in Paragic's Lab, symbolizing the external tools and armaments humans rely upon to conquer their immediate obstacles. However, when Huey finally claims the title of Glory Tournament Champion, his triumph is abruptly rendered meaningless. The sudden arrival of the dark entity Teru, who seeks to recreate the world in his own dark vision, reduces the champion to a comatose state. This arc serves as a stark reminder of the illusion of control; worldly achievements and the pursuit of status are ultimately vulnerable to the larger, often chaotic, forces of the universe. The issue further explores the moral decay that accompanies a ruthless pursuit of power. This is brutally illustrated when Arnold turns on his ally, Sanura, striking her down simply because he perceives that she has "become weak". Arnold's machiavellian declaration that there is "no longer room for the weak" highlights a worldview where human utility entirely supersedes inherent human value. Similarly, the tragic confrontation between Demon Donald and his father, Sick Donny, exposes the relational cost of ego-driven quests. When Donald demands to know where his father was when he needed him, Sick Donny justifies his abandonment as a quest "to become great and wealthy enough to provide". This exchange questions the rationalizations we use to justify our absences and moral failings, illustrating how the blind pursuit of an idealized future often destroys the present reality of our relationships.
