re: Do one-shots need to be previews?

Ah sorry, I mean more like is there any reason a one-shot can't be a stand-alone story, as suppose to an Episode 0 to a larger series?

I have about 20 one-shots I have in mind at the moment.

Do one-shots need to be previews?
In my case, I have a lot of stories built up over the years, that are slightly longer than normal one-shot: generally when finally adapted to a "name" format, they would be 60-80 pages, not 16-40 pages. And each story would be stand-alone, not be a preview to a larger series. But each one-shot is set roughly in the...

re: How long do you make your chapters?

I'm thinking of a similar kind of limit as well, or for print a minimum of 24-26 pages. That might be a ways in the future though, reverse engineering this one weapon design I did, to see why the proportions were off.

I'm wanting to aim for maybe a 690 panel book or so when this is done.

How many of us are into Gothic Horror?
I noticed that Gothic horror was mentioned in another thread. I have a weird relationship with Gothic horror, as I've tended to approach from a Cyberpunk angle before I distanced myself from the genre slowly over time.

That part of me that would write about say Vampire Cyborgs and hackers, however, is still present.

re: Release manager says page is missing frames, but it has one

Yea that stumbled me the first time as well. Basically go into the edit manager, and then you can add frames by clicking on add frame, and then drag until you're comfortable with how the frame looks.

What mistakes have you made drawing?
In my case, I draw the Eiffel Tower a lot. A is the next few chapter, I'll probably also be drawing Toriis a lot. ( Basically Japanese tower gates. )

When I was initially drawing the storyboards, because I didn't make a mechanical drawing of my actual city in real life, it ended up having buildings that could not be...

Oh as a heads up, if I end up paired with anyone, I may end up needing someone doesn't mind working with rhyme and meter. Tried to find ways to make it not ... sing songy, but I can't seem to avoid it.

How long do you make your chapters?
Currently I have two chapters up, although once I finish inking these last few pages, I'll have two and a half chapters up ( 59-60 pages ). I was originally anticipating chapter one would be the transitionary chapter, but I ended up adding additional subplots and expansion of characters.

By the time i'm done with the...

re: In going over stories I want to do,

Interesting! Thanks. Another interesting argument I found watching this one podcast, suppose you have an anthology that is made up of all the artists in a comic company. What he would generally do is have each of those artist write a simple script, and then have one artist draw from all of those scripts, in order to keep the art consistent.

After I...

In going over stories I want to do,
Should I just do a wait and see, and see what script format the artist prefers. Or jump and ahead and use the script format I prefer to do the storyboards, and then have whatever artist I find go by those story boards?

I know some creators prefer more flexibility on their paneling. I'm somewhat that way when I...

Ways to designate roles, with granularity.
I'm primarily a writer recently venturing into writing scriptwriting.

It would be nice if there was a way to mention in profile whether you're a beginning or advanced artist, and similar kinds of granularity for writers, inkers, letterers, and so on. I'm drawing the storyboard / rough panels, as I figure that would be...

Anyone know where to learn Mechanical Drawing?
One of my biggest current weaknesses in drawing seems to drawing mechanical parts. I was considering taking a class specifically for learning how to draw gears, cogs, and other mechanical things. I think this ties into difficulty drawing backgrounds.

Presently more of a comic writer than artist, but working to improve...

The framing of pages is actually what sold me on it. That's an extremely inventive thing I honestly hadn't seen anywhere else, even with mobile visibility.

I might have trouble convincing my webcomic friend I know in other places to move, but that's mainly because I think she may be moving to print.

Variations from script to finished art,
Has anyone else ever had the experience where what ends up finally drawn is many times larger than what you actually have scripted? I'm up to script page 27 ( about 1/3rd to a half way done ), but as of script page 9, I'm already on drawn page 24.

So I may end up having to either redo the script, or just be prepared...
