Ah, I see! Thank you, I hadn't poked around the actual merge release pages yet so I didn't see this. I think a lot of my confusion was coming from looking at webcomics which utilize the vertical scroll format rather than the single page format (even if they're not a vertical oriented comic). It was hard for me to picture what merging pages into a longer stacked-on-top-of-each-other viewing experience would do to the comments and metadata. This pretty much alleviates my concerns and confusion! I'm gonna look into posting here soon.

Hi, I'm noodling around in the uploader and trying to decide how I want to publish my webcomic's backlog to GC. Not sure if this should be in 'suggestions' or not cuz I may just be missing some features. Still getting used to things, haha.

I saw on a previous forum that adding new pages to an already published release won't ping as a new update, and that the suggested solution is to post new pages as their own release and then merge them into the bigger release a few days later. Sounds like a reasonable solution, and probably great for things like batch-updated comics, but I wanted to ask out of curiosity: What happens to comments on different releases when you merge them? Do they get deleted? Do they all merge based on the date the comment was posted? If so, do they have any indicators to what page the comment was left on before the merger to help with context and retain its relevancy?

I'm a classic webcomics person - I like the weekly page-by-page update schedule. I'm wondering if this kind of updating is still feasible here while utilizing GC's 'releases' to collect related pages together (either as 'arcs', 'chapters' or 'issues' of a story). My gut instinct is that it kinda isn't, and that if you want to do classic webcomic weekly update schedules you'd need to ignore collecting pages in bigger releases altogether in order to give readers that same experience (things like: unique comments per page, pinging your readers for their weekly drip-feed of content, clicking through each update and reading page-by-page, etc). (Which is a shame if true - the releases make everything look soooo crispy, clean and organized 😋)

Dunno if this line of thinking makes sense, and maybe you already have other solutions or workarounds for stuff like this? I know the greater internet's idea of a webcomic has pivoted to vertical scrolling 'webtoons' and longer updates in general, but I just can't let go of the classic webcomic format, haha. I'd love to hear any thoughts or insights people may have about this, admin or otherwise?

Ah, awesome, I was about to make a new suggestion thread about custom cover pages for releases when I found this conversation. Just want to throw my hat in the ring for it, too! o/ My comic has a few chapters where they start in medias res, so the 'title page' is not necessarily the first page, but a couple pages down the line. This feature will be much appreciated when it's implemented to help keep everything looking consistent and tidy across releases! :>
