When I was reading this comic again, my excitement kept growing about what would happen next. But when I finished it it became my most favorite comic. You’ve written it really well. Were you inspired by someone when you wrote it?
So these comics started out as fan fiction for this old vampire show called Moonlight. I had my own self insert Mary Sue going and everything, haha. I worked on taking down the cringe, hopefully with some success
That’s really cool 😄 turning fan fiction into something personal isn’t easy and it sounds like you did a great job refining it.
What made you decide to rework it and did you keep anything from Moonlight in the story?
I wanted to bring it to a comics convention and they had a somewhat negative view on fan art. They didn't actually block anyone from selling fan art but they asked us to bring mostly original content... So I didn't want to risk all the work of making the comics and have the con shut me down cause it wasn't original. Also people already didn't remember Moonlight that much back then, so there was not much incentive for me to keep the reference..
That makes sense It’s tough when conventions or audiences don’t really appreciate fan art and if people had mostly forgotten Moonlight keeping the reference probably wouldn’t have added much.
And if you’re looking for an artist I would love to create comic art for you at the best price. I can also share some ideas with you.
As for what I kept from the show: the idea of vampires sleeping in fridges (lol), the vampire dude being an investigator, his human "friend" being a reporter and him having an older vampire friend who he consults regarding vampire knowledge. I changed all the names and made the cast more diverse (they were all white in the show)
That’s really cool I love how you kept the fun ideas, like vampires sleeping in fridges but also made the cast more diverse.
are you on IG ? or discord ?
