It's fascinating how you discovered a comic featuring two fictional men holding hands and somehow decided that this was the pinnacle of human storytelling. Not because it solved world hunger. Not because it revealed the secrets of the universe. But because somewhere between chapter 14 and chapter 87, you convinced yourself that the fate of these pixels on a screen deserved emotional investment normally reserved for actual life events. I imagine you at 1:43 in the morning, illuminated by the sacred glow of your phone, smiling like you've just witnessed a miracle because one of them finally confessed after sixty chapters of misunderstandings and dramatic rain scenes. Meanwhile, the authors are peacefully living their lives, blissfully unaware that somewhere out there a complete stranger is kicking their feet, giggling, and writing essays in the comments about fictional men who don't exist. Not because you're obligated to. Not because society demanded it. But because your brain looked at two drawings with emotional chemistry and decided, "Yes. These are my children now, and I shall suffer weekly waiting for updates." And honestly, that's the strange beauty of fandom: humans will happily become emotionally attached to stories simply because they enjoy them, even when the characters themselves will never know.
