While They Were Away

Two houses. Two absent spouses. One street where everything is about to change. Harper’s husband is always away on business, always promising next weekend. Jake’s wife is deployed overseas, her messages getting shorter every month. Left behind on the same quiet street, the two neighbours start doing the small things together: school runs, late-night phone calls, dinners that turn into long evenings. Their daughters, Maddie and Lily, have already decided they’re one family. Neither of them meant for it to happen. Neither of them can stop it. While They Were Away is a slow-burn romantic drama about loneliness, choice and the people we become when no one is watching, and about what it costs when the people who left finally come home. Adapted from the novel. New episodes weekly. Content note: adult themes, including infidelity and marital breakdown.
