Description
In Issue #3 of Unknown Nation, the narrative shifts focus to Arnold—a young man crushed by mundane rejections (academic denial, job loss, romantic abandonment) who ultimately ends his own life, only to be resurrected through a pact with Satan. Beneath its dark fantasy tropes, this issue functions as an exploration of ressentiment, moral displacement, and existential despair. Arnold’s devotion to Satan represents a search for meaning through submission to a higher power, albeit a malevolent one. In his view, the conventional world offered him no agency, so he traded his autonomy for superhuman force. Arnold's path demonstrates how embracing a doctrine of destruction ultimately hollows out the self, leaving behind only revenge and dark ambition.
