Underworld Unleashed: The 25th Anniversary Edition
The devil gets his due as demonically powered super-villains wreak havoc in this 25th-anniversary edition of the classic DC event! Neron, the ruler of hell, makes DC's villains-and heroes-an offer they can't refuse, dangling serious power upgrades at the cost of their souls. Who will say yes? Who will say no? And will the DC Universe ever be the same? Collects Underworld Unleashed #1-3, Underworld Unleashed: Abyss-Hell's Sentinel #1, Underworld Unleashed: Apokolips-Dark Uprising #1, Underworld Unleashed: Batman-Devil's Asylum #1, and Underworld Unleashed: Patterns of Fear #1.
Issue 1
Underworld Unleashed (1995) #1
Abra Kadabra approaches the Rogues Gallery (minus Trickster) with a proposition, an offer of power and respect. All they have to do is to destroy five targets at the same time. Unfortunately, the Rogues are killed when the targets are destroyed, which sets Neron free on the Earth.
Issue 2
Underworld Unleashed: Abyss--Hell's Sentinel (1995-) #1
A secret struggle for magical supremacy is fought in this UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED one-shot! Accompanied by the Spectre, Fate, the Phantom Stranger, Deadman and Zatanna, Sentinel (former Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott) braves the darkest depths of the Abyss to save the soul of his wife. The quest leads the heroes into a trap created by the Neron-supercharged Satannus and Blaze, who pit the heroes against Etrigan the Demon, Dementor, Tannarak and Blackbriar Thorn.
Issue 3
Underworld Unleashed: Apokolips--Dark Uprising (1995-) #1
Events on Apokolips have attracted Neron's notice. Following the events in New Gods #1 and #2, Darkseid's lieutenants have become locked in a power struggle, with Apokolips itself as the ultimate prize. But with Neron pulling the strings, the ultimate prize also carries the ultimate price.
Issue 4
Underworld Unleashed: Batman--Devil's Asylum (1995-) #1
As Underworld Unleashed engulfs the DC Universe, Neron's corrupting influence has intensified the madness and evil already concentrated within the walls of Arkham Asylum. Into this deadly mix comes a new inmate who has poisoned the Asylum's other residents, and the antidote carries a price only Batman can pay...with his soul!
Issue 5
Underworld Unleashed: Patterns of Fear (1995-) #1
The events of Underworld Unleashed have created a permanent shift in the DC Universe's balance of power. This unusual one-shot tells of one woman's attempt to understand this "new world order." Oracle has begun to assemble a database that details the villains' new profiles and the redoubled threat each represents. Featuring pages constructed in much the same fashion as DC's now-classic Who's Who, Patterns of Fear is also the story of Neron's offer to the wheelchair-bound Barbara Gordon, and includes information about Neron unavailable anywhere else!
Issue 6
Underworld Unleashed (1995) #2
In this issue Neron starts to tempt the heroes with their greatest desires. Some tell him no; others, like Blue Devil, take Neron up on his offer, only to find out (like the villains did) that there are consequences to saying yes to Neron. Back in Hell, Luthor and the Joker force the Trickster to tell them where Neron's power is being stored. They then manipulate Circe, Dr. Polaris and Abra Kadabra into using their magic to open it.
Issue 7
Underworld Unleashed (1995) #3
As Neron's power continues to grow, the effects of his influence have taken hold of the Earth: the entire world appears to be erupting in waves of violence and panic. The full might of the Justice League pierces the barrier to the Underworld and confronts Neron's demonic army. Convinced that Neron has captured Superman, they navigate through the circle of Hell to find him. Neron, meanwhile, sits atop his throne with Lord Satanus kneeling before him. Satanus acknowledges Neron's power, and offers up his own sister, Blaze, in exchange for lenience.
