The Mystery of the Alchemical Manuscript

As the Prussians bombard Paris and the Second Empire crumbles, forensic pathologist Michel de Gènèrac arrives in Buenos Ayres to advise president Sarmiento on public health and crime mitigation. At once he is confronted with a multiple murderer—and a horrific plague. With death rapidly spreading around him, Gènèrac must solve a double mystery: the crimes of a serial killer, and the origins of the epidemic. Told in the traditional Franco-Belgian bande desinée style, this 100-page graphic novel trades in shadows and suspense, a rich period-accurate artwork, and a classic page-by-page grid layout designed for deep, immersive reading. An ideal read for buffs of fin-de-siècle mysteries. Updated every Friday.
