After the failed attempt to stop the Prophet Ezekias in volume 1 Margaret is alive again thanks to Saba, The Mother Of All Souls. Saba pulled her back and then stood over a grave and called a dead man to rise. The mysterious man walks among the living under another man's name, and he cannot tell her who he is. The rules forbid it. It's up to Margaret to stop the revival of the Prophet. But that's not the only threat that Margaret has to face. Igor was never good at his job. He was bullied for it, humiliated for it, and when he was finally fired, something in him cracked. He carries one secret the church would destroy him for: Lola, his daughter. Priests are forbidden to have children. Only one man knows Cazimir and Cazimir uses it against him when they fight. Then Igor takes the host at mass. Ezekias, the prophet sealed within the tabernacle, feels his sorrow and comes to him with an offer: authority over the church, in exchange for blood. Igor accepts.
