In the 19th century, ruthless gangs of rustlers brought terror across the Maule Region, in the heart of Chile. By the word of mouth from their victims spread across the whole valley, we've heard about their cunning, boldness and cruelty, which made them celebrities. The government lack the resources and courage to confront them, letting to leave their crimes unpunished. One of them was different, a kind of Robin Hood, with an ambiguous moral code. He was Ciriaco Contreras.
The Conservative Party, with the help of the local Church and its chaplain, is organizing a massive political event with the aim of capturing votes for the Parliamentary elections. The trip of two candidates from Santiago to participate in the event puts Doctor Luis Humberto Blest Gana and Ciriaco Contreras on alert, who develop a plan to avoid it, but it is too risky. Eulogio Arrivillaga, however, has an idea.
