Episode 1
The Smotherer
“The Smotherer” is a free rendering of the original Portuguese title. The story draws on Portuguese rural folklore, in which the "Abafador" was a sinister figure, summoned in whispers to end the prolonged suffering of the dying. Neither priest, doctor, nor executioner, he was called only when death lingered too long, and agony would not end. Text by Fernando Valério.
Episode 2
Turning Point
Another text by Fernando Valério. This one turns its gaze toward the everyday life, and toward the quiet futility of ordinary, repeated gestures — the long-built routine of years that slowly teaches us to forget what is essential. And what is essential? That, perhaps, is for each of us alone to discover.
