In a world where evil spirits roam the earth a boy named ren ichinosie whos hometown tokyo and the whole kanto region of Japan was attacked by the elite forms of these spirits called "phantoms" these spirits cannot be killed or exorcised like the others and they can take any shape or size and have different levels of intelligence...rens father was a spirit dealist groups of people that help fight against evil spirits ..as rens father was killed during the battle and evacuation ren was left in fukushima town where he eventually aims to become a spirit dealist and stop any further attacks from slowly destroying the world itself..but there's more to phantoms than he thought...and his past aswell..
