Touch Down in Africa

After the events of Holy Mansion, Re uses a stolen Egyptian rocket in the hope of finally returning home. Instead, the journey breaks through time, misses Cape Town and deposits him in Johannesburg and Soweto. He is roughly 1,000 kilometres off course and still separated from Deeba and BooBoo, the two lights guiding every decision he makes. Re’s dramatic arrival attracts the attention of Mr Kaka, Jozi’s most confident tour guide and the only driver of a battered silver C-Class benz that seems held together by optimism and invoices. Mr Kaka offers Re an Ancestral Executive experience, promising culture, animals, adventure and a route toward Cape Town. Every promise, naturally, carries a premium. As Re travels through the heat and hustle of Jozi, he faces sickly animals, roadside chaos, strange receipts and the growing suspicion that Mr Kaka can turn oxygen into a billable service. Beneath the comedy, Re remains focused on returning to his daughters. By the chapter’s end, he has gained a guide, entered a new African world and discovered that his road to Cape Town will be longer, louder and far more meaningful than expected.
