After surviving the treacherous ocean, Kael finally arrives in Aurelia, the city the hunters call home. At first, the magnificent harbor leaves him speechless—but beneath the city's beauty, Kael discovers a horrifying industry. Myth Beast horns, scales, claws, teeth, bones, and hides are being bought and sold like ordinary merchandise. When Kael witnesses a massive Beast hide being auctioned and sees even children playing with toys made from Beast bones, he begins to understand that the hatred he witnessed in Brinehaven is far bigger than his village. As Kael leaves the beautiful harbor and enters Aurelia's darker lower streets, he realizes something even more disturbing: The entire world may have been taught to hate the Myth Beasts.
