In an original tale from the murky and frankly weird imagination of author and artist, Jim Nicholls, Loons follows the epic journey of a group of beings created and controlled by the 'Corporation'. Although the story takes place in an imaginary world, it reflects many issues we face in the 'real world' today. If forced into a genre, Loons would be somewhere within horror, Sci-fi, gothic, dystopian and comedy. Jim's art style reflects this, drifting from realism to cartoon-like images. Loons is at times funny, quirky, dark, hopeful and tragic and is epic in scope with almost limitless storylines. Enjoy.
Book 1 introduces us to the main characters; a group of laboratory created beings who must survive not only living in a world they do not understand, but also the threat of death by those who created them. Not a good recipe for good self esteem. It is funny, odd, brutal and engaging.
