Omnibus 1
Kid Eternity Book One
He died as a child, decades before his time, and spent the next 30 years in Hell thanks to a mix-up in the afterlife's bureaucracy. Then a miracle occurred, and the Kid escaped perdition for Earth. His mission: become the new Messiah. His gift: the ability to summon any human, god or devil who ever existed—or who anyone once believed existed—with the cry of a single word…
"ETERNITY!"
Redeeming humanity, however, is trickier than it seems. From America's forgotten highways to the endless realms of cyberspace, from the clamor of TV talk shows to the chaos of insane asylums, from the siren song of sex to the menace of mad gods, a whole host of forces—good, bad and ugly—have united to thwart the utopian efforts of this savior in sunglasses.
Fortunately, he has a little help from his friends—including a hacker, a hobo, Zeus, Freud, Neal Cassady, Marilyn Monroe and many more. When it comes to saving the world, not even the power of Eternity can do it alone…
KID ETERNITY BOOK ONE collects the first nine issues of legendary writer Ann Nocenti and superstar artist Sean Phillips' classic VERTIGO saga of magic, madness and the strangeness of the twentieth-century psyche.
Issue 1
Kid Eternity (1993-) #1
Ever wonder who's calling the shots? Ever wonder if those in control are reviewing all the resumes? If not, consider the case of Kid Eternity. Everyone knows someone like the Kid-the dude who seems just too cool to live. In his case, though, it's true. Kid Eternity is dead, though he tries not to let that cramp his style. In a lot of ways, he's a pretty typical teenager-more interested in the world in his head than in the job at hand, which is to help humanity raise its consciousness and climb the next rung of evolution's ladder. Okay, so the Kid can call on anyone in all history to aid him in his quest, but there we go assuming the Kid's going to notice it when he needs help. The Kid has this small denial problem. When your whole (after)life is just one damned thing after another, you tend to be pretty jaded, and things have to get awfully weird before the Kid gets moving.
Issue 2
Kid Eternity (1993-) #2
Woken from a nightmare, Kid Eternity calls upon Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud to resolve his past in order to move forward.
Issue 3
Kid Eternity (1993-) #3
Kid Eternity finds love-but love is in worse shape than he bargained for.
Issue 4
Kid Eternity (1993-) #4
It's a road trip for the Kid, who, in typical fashion, drives right into a race riot.
Issue 5
Kid Eternity (1993-) #5
The Kid's road trip with bohemian wayfarer Neal Cassady hits the skids when they're sucked into the heart of the Horror Vortex.
Issue 6
Kid Eternity (1993-) #6
Hide the remote control and make the cable company yank the line out of the wall! The Kid has discovered the power of TV, and the airwaves are no longer safe!
Issue 7
Kid Eternity (1993-) #7
When Fetish throws a party, Eternity and Infinity find themselves face to face, a situation with literally limitless possibilities.
Issue 8
Kid Eternity (1993-) #8
In "God's Tick," the Kid, Willie and Pathos visit Cristabel on her 18th birthday and attempt to understand the logic of the insane by seeing for themselves what insanity looks like.
Issue 9
Kid Eternity (1993-) #9
The Kid and Cristabel are committed to an asylum with only Blind Willie Dodge and Hemlock available for rescue duty, but the escape requires climbing the walls of both the mind and the womb.
Issue 10
Kid Eternity (1993-) #10
When the Kid befriends a kind but hardened hustler living in the bowels of Times Square, he learns a thing or two about real people's problems, and experiences firsthand what real violence feels like.
Issue 11
Kid Eternity (1993-) #11
There's a new drug on the streets called Slap, and it offers either instant enlightenment or total insanity. The Kid must try some himself if he's going to save one of its victims.
Issue 12
Kid Eternity (1993-) #12
Still rattled by the hallucinogenic effects of the genetically engineered drug Slap, Kid Eternity must also contend with the irritable genius Nikola Tesla and the crazed super-patriot Oil Jackson, both of whom hold the key to restoring the Kid's sanity.
Issue 13
Kid Eternity (1993-) #13
Kid Eternity embarks on a quest for normalcy, beginning with a date with Chelsea, a young woman he cured of hysterical blindness. Unfortunately, instead of teenage bliss, the two end up on a date in Hell.
Issue 14
Kid Eternity (1993-) #14
Kid Eternity has entered into a bargain with Beelzebub to find five truly evil men in order to keep the devil from destroying Earth. While the Kid embarks on his mission, his date Chelsea wanders Hell's Terminal Lounge and starts making trouble.

Still searching for the five truly evil men the devil requires as ransom for the world, Kid Eternity visits his mentor, Ricketts, who offers a clue to the Kid's other quest-his search for his parents.
