A month after leaving the Auric Circle, Soren is enjoying quieter mornings, regular meals, and the freedom to turn down terrible jobs. Unfortunately, peace doesn't pay. Then his former teammates return with a problem: their new healer, Solenne, can no longer stop casting. What looks like exhaustion may be something far more dangerous—and Soren must examine the magic meant to keep everyone alive. He agrees to help. For a fee. But when an emergency bell rings from Thornspire Grotto, Soren finds himself running beside his old team once more.
