Chapter 2 Apartment 6B

When struggling nursing student Sarah Whitaker moves into a cheap apartment in Philadelphia, she assumes the strange noises are just part of living in an aging building. The scratching in the walls. The footsteps above her ceiling. The soft knocking that always comes at exactly 2:13 AM. The problem is— there is no apartment above hers. And according to the building records, Apartment 6B has been vacant for over thirty years. At first the disturbances seem harmless. Lights flicker. Objects move. A radio turns on by itself. Neighbors claim they’ve heard the same sounds for decades. Most refuse to discuss it. One elderly tenant simply warns: “If you hear someone crying upstairs, don’t answer.”
