Issue 2 “Confessions & Conversion” - A flashback to Cyon’s adolescence in small-town South Carolina reveals the origin of both his trauma and his powers. After confiding something about himself that his religious family cannot accept, teenage Cyon is sent to the conversion facility Hope for Holiness, where he meets another boy, Todd, who becomes his first real ally. Beneath the institution’s sanctimonious language and ritualized abuse lurks Dr. Sarah, whose influence proves far more sinister than human cruelty alone. As Cyon’s empathic perceptions deepen, he begins sensing a monstrous presence hidden behind her. Todd’s defiance against the program is crushed, and when Cyon is finally taken below the facility into its ritual chamber, he comes face to face with the being that will shape the rest of his life.
