Chapter 2: White Eyes

Novalee abruptly awakens in her cave in the middle of the night for reasons unknown. Shaking off the remnants of sleep, she decides to make her way to her main hill, a modest rise in the landscape where she often watches over her land. From this perch, she can see the distant mountains where Pyro, the mysterious wolf known for his moonlit howls, resides with his pack. Though her hill is nowhere near as towering as those mountains, it provides a vantage point to keep a watchful eye on her territory—and Pyro's. But there’s more than meets the eye.
