After his elite unit is unexpectedly wiped out, asocial beast hunter Esper is forced to become the leader of a slapdash group of powerful but problematic hunters who were all expelled from their teams. Each hunting expedition brings him and his team deeper into the strange realm from whence the monsters came. As he navigates the difficulties of straightening out his dysfunctional new team, Esper slowly discovers a secret much more sinister than the man-eating monsters they hunt.
