First Meet

The interior was denser than the darkness outside. Birdie steps into the house and finds herself surrounded by countless ghosts. Some sit quietly. Some stare into nothing. Some seem completely unaware of her presence. They don't attack her. They don't even seem to notice her. But the longer Birdie stays, the heavier the silence becomes. Then she notices a woman sitting alone, quietly crying. For the first time since entering the house, Birdie stops to wonder: What happened to them? And why does she feel like she shouldn't be here?
