Far into the future, humanity has been made anew. Some children are born by their mothers, while others are sculpted and given the breath of life by God. Both groups live together in total peace. One of the clay children, a strange girl, lives on the edge of the woods, loved deeply by a devout boy, flesh and blood, from a powerful family.
