Description
On Virel, some endings don’t take. When a delayed train keeps bank teller Lena from arriving on time, a robbery at Veyr & Co. Exchange House turns bloody. Weeks later, the case has been stamped closed, the bank has reopened, and the city is trying to move on. Callum Reid arrives looking for the closure file and the name of the person who signed it. What he finds is not a clean ending, but a buried contradiction. The bank, the auditors, and municipal security all helped turn eight deaths into paperwork. Then Bran Vorth arrives. Bran sees the same wound Callum sees, but he wants a different kind of answer. Callum wants records, ownership, and controlled access to the truth. Bran wants the rot cut out before it spreads. As Callum forces the bank manager to reveal what was misfiled, the real question becomes clear: who gets to decide when an ending is finished?
