Under his leadership the Knights of St John, together with the people of Malta, make preparations for the imminent invasion that lies ahead. On an island only 17 miles long by 9 miles wide, with just 8,500 men, he must hold off the Mighty Ottoman Empire’s 40,000 strong force, long enough for reinforcements to arrive from Sicily.
