For Your Own Good - Ep 37

Free with Gold

This issue has been so long. I can't believe I started posting this in March of 2025... and it's finally finished. I did so many things that I wasn't sure if I could pull off. So what can you expect from here? The Fantasy Book Club will be taking a hiatus while I do my pre-production on Issue 8 and get a bit of desperately needed R&R. I hope to return to posting by January, but not committed yet.

It's the penultimate episode of Issue 7 and for those who saw my Webtoon Contest entry in 2022 this is your second time meeting Draike and Kleo! For everyone else this episode's got new characters plus the first time seeing Metordain since Issue 1!

The wind down continues with my favorite besties, Tristan and Brie. I have had to draw so many new backgrounds for these last few episodes. I sometimes wish I could let myself just do a freaking gradient but alas, I cannot. So please enjoy many angles of Brie's loft apartment complete with character building details.

I'm really enjoying getting to give everyone a moment to decompress... even if some of those moments are less effective than others. Poor Drew. (I say as though this is all just happening and I didn't do this.)

I swear... Fiona is going somewhere with all of this.

Fiona is doing... something. And poor Jayla is struggling. I really love environmental story telling and the little bit that we see of the inside of her house is the absolutely picture of unmanaged ADHD.

This is kind of a short one but the pacing for the remaining episodes of issue 7 are very particular and this short one sets them up. Also, Fiona be doing Fiona stuff.

Do you laugh, do you cry…? In Eremis’ position, maybe a little bit of both.

This is one of those scenes that I have been thinking about for YEARS! The connection between Fiona and Eremis is so special to me. It’s complicated and important and I love writing and drawing it so much!

Fiona is done. But in a walk away from the situation kind of way, not in a blow everything up kind of way. So... better than expected?

Just... a whole *mess* of personality conflicts happening here and attempts to de-escalate that don't REALLY work.

Direct and clear communication of expectations and boundaries can be a really good thing, unless the other person is constantly in fight mode and can only see it as an attack. In which case, well... *waves vaguely at Brie and Fiona*

Fiona does not know how to handle someone trusting her. She's very baffled by the whole concept. Also, Global Comix is now officially caught up to other platforms and will begin go to posting twice a month. Thank you to everyone who reads here.

Ghost mom is... a jumble of memories and trauma with too much power. Also, her string is exactly as long as it needs to be for the composition, and I stand by that.
