done page 40, onto page 41. I remember reading about advice for new comic makers: " don't do anything too long, keep it short, no more than 6 pages". My thoughts are, if you have a great story you want to tell, you need to just do it and accept that it will be uneven in quality. I'm not exactly sure how long mine is going to be; although it's completely written , the length can be variable depending on how i want to draw it. I think its over 100 pages . There is a huge difference between doing a 6 page vs 100 page story, it's like a walk in the park vs climbing a mountain.

finished page 38, started page 39. I can see why most creators never get very far before packing it in... it's a very strange and difficult endeavor making comics and one must wear a lot of hats. Then on top of that there is a lot of self doubt that creeps in. It's not like there is some comic making institution that lays it all out for you, so that also adds to the difficulty. Now that i think of it, this a completely bizarre type of work where you can only learn by doing and studying what others have done. Toiling in obscurity, that's what it's all about :^)

finished pages 32-36 for the next chapter. It's been rough trying to find a way of working that i'm satisfied with and has good results. I've redone some of these latest pages 3 times and i've lost a lot of time doing that. Anyway, I think what i've done is satisfactory and i'm on page 37 now. This chapter has over 20 pages, so I don't have an idea of how long the next release will be. I thought this status update thing was removed by globalcomix , but i noticed they just moved it... so i'll update regularly now.

i'm working on 2 paintings for the release, but to do that i've decided to really get into learning how to paint better. I have a lot of experience painting but painting mostly out of your head is a whole other ball game. So i'm doing that this week and next. I've got 12 paintings on the go, hopefully 2 of them work out. I've got all the pages scanned and ready to go, just this extra stuff is what's taking up my time.

sort of finished page 26, but i will probably come back to it. i'm redoing portions of page 24. There's 5 pages in this chapter so it's technically done, but im working on the next chapter as well, its 6 pages, but i haven't decided if i will release them together or separate.

on page 19. i made a huge change to how i work starting on page 17, which has some pros and cons. I decided to forego penciling altogether and just work straight in inks. The main reason for the changes is speed of page completion, a desire to have a sort of 'life' to the inking that i wasn't getting before, and last of all, a change in the focus of my work to be more art - based and less illustration based. The trade off for this change is less craftmanship, less accuracy, less slickness. Anyway, its all experimental and the good thing is no one is looking, no one cares and i can just make some giant change without any blowback.
