David leaves his mother’s suburban home with his camera, his hero costume, and the memory of the mentor he lost. In Zoo York, his cousin "Dablackman" greets him at Grand Central and, without warning, teleports them across the city. Then David reunites with "Johan", freshly out of prison.
The cousins head to a parking lot to film content with Johan’s old cars. They find the cars taken over by "Little T", a child streamer with a bodyguard and a syndicate behind him. A tense standoff turns violent, and a chase across the city ends with the three of them crashing into a police department.
Chapter 1 ends with the cousins free, but only because someone powerful signed off, and now they owe him.
