Synopsis…Zara, a therapist working for the Space Exploration Agency, is called to the Jupiter base to consult on Amelia, an explorer and a former patient. Upon arrival, she finds out Amelia died, and her partner Leo is the only one who knows what happened. And he seems to think Amelia was murdered. However, Leo is not what Zara expected, so can she trust him, as the two investigate Amelia's fate?
Thoughts… From the moment you start reading this book you can tell it's a really polished project. It has the look of something that the bigger companies would produce. With this in mind I found the writing and illustration to be as polished as the presentation. This is a comic that deserves to be on the shelves in comics stores worldwide.
The story starts off with the building of some very interesting exposition and sets up the mystery that unfolds throughout the book. The whole first part of the book establishes what has happened and leads us nicely to the next section of the story. This is where I was thrown for a loop, as things got a bit more intriguing. I was already fully into the story but it was from here I was fully engaged with it. I genuinely gasped out loud as I was reading through. There are some really great moments throughout the title, none of which I will spoil here but there is a great mix of heartfelt moments along with suspicion and paranoia filled speculation.
The illustration style is really great, it's very clean lines and the colours almost produce a hue that shines off the pages in certain panels. There are some great images throughout the issue where the illustrator and colourist have done some stellar work together to show great moments of emotional resonance as the story unfolds.
I would definitely recommend you go check out the Kickstarter page for this book, there are sample pages there which will give you an inkling of what I have tried to describe here. This is definitely a book you will want to back for sure. This is a one and done but there is definitely room for the story to expand as well. I really enjoyed the book, its mystery kept me invested along with the emotional journey we are taken on. I would give this a solid 8 out of 10, this should be picked up by one of the indie publishers and get much more attention than it's getting now.
