We are indeed a small publisher. It’s as punk rock as it gets. We operate from coast to coast and out of Brandon’s living room. We’re very fresh, and we want to express that. It’s been flattering to have so many creators think we’re bigger than we are, but you can thank our amazing team for that.
53 years old, ex-Hollywood screenwriter, making my first comic!
Hey all!
So yeah, I'm totally new here, it's nice to join the community! I've been working on this sucker for about 5 years now. It started as a spec script to try and sell as a movie, and I thought of making a few pages as a comic just to pitch the project... but I got addicted, so I just decided to make the whole sucker as a comic instead! It's called "Rick Starr Kills Robots!"

A little history:Â
In the early-to-mid 2000's, I (with my best friend and former writing partner Grant) sold some comedy scripts to studios (Sony, Disney, and a few smaller studios). As Hollywood moved away from big-screen theatrical comedies, the work dried up. And, frankly, I was pretty miserable while doing the job... endless executive notes, actors being attached, then dropping out, studios literally trying to not pay the money they owed us... so I quit doing it and went back to my other passion, editing.Â
So for the past 20+ years, I've been editing trailers and TV spots for Disney/HULU, but I never stopped writing, and this idea - for some crazy reason - stuck with me. So I started drawing it. Then, I got frustrated because my art skills weren't really up to snuff, so I designed the characters in a 3D program (Daz Studio + Blender), brought the models into Clip Studio Pro (that was a loooooong process), and now I have a combo of hand-drawn and 3D art styles.
Anyway, have a look, hope you get some laughs or fun from it. My goal was to make a comic form of genre movies like Repo Man, They Live, Buckaroo Banzai... sci-fi with tons of silly fun and satire.
I've put the first 45 pages up, I have about 80 more. Let me know what you think!Â
P.S. Tell me about your comic, I'm looking to read cool stuff and get better!
