I'm not sure if this works on GC but I am trying to claim my comic listing on Comic Rocket and I'm needing to add a code to the page layout HTML to verify and claim. Any idea on how I go about doing that? It's super confusing haha

Character flaws, in my opinion, keeps a hero grounded. It reminds us that they are human. Valencia's character flaw that I felt I could write in is impulse control. Valencia, while she mostly acts on moral grounds, can in some situations behave on self sabotaging impulses, as what will be seen in the upcoming story arc "Forever Day" and in the following story.

The name "Belza" is an amalgamation of "Belleza," Spanish for "Beauty," and "Jezebel," an infamous figure in a Bible story. Valencia feels she was branded this name because she feels responsible for her family's tragic death and the dark actions afterward.

The original idea was that I would use the name of a creation I made a while ago, "Beauty Bow" and Valencia would use a bow and arrow, similar to heroes like Green Arrow and Hawkeye, as at the time a story about an archer was my most favorable to make. I then decided on dropping the bow part and just went with Beauty, before finally deciding Belza sounds more dramatic and tragic.

In place of the bow, I went with dual blades to reflect Valencia's dual personality, as well as a representation of her tragic past.

I've always wanted to do a story called "Elysium", but I just wasn't sure how to execute it. Back when I was in community college and wanted to do game design (which now kinda glad I didn't...), I wanted to create a game with a ninja character, and call it "Generic Ninja Name: Elysium."

The story would have been somewhat similar to Belza: Elysium. Only difference is that the "forbidden zone" would be in the sky, and taken over by killer robots. Yeah, weird times...

So the idea for La Reina is a mix of a lot of my favorite "Kingpin of the Crime" characters in comics (Wilson Fisk, Lex Luthor, Tobias Whale) and some characters from my favorite arcade games (Mr. X, Shredder).

For Belza's first rival, I was thinking she should go up against a force that would change the status quo of the city. So I found myself going "Y'know, what if I had Belza fight Sofia Vegara, only pure evil and crazy murderous?" So, there was the very first villain. Now, I needed a backstory to why Belza hates La Reina.

My first idea? Just have La Reina be an evil gang member, and that's it. Vali decides to be a hero, gets dressed up, goes for revenge. Nah, back to the drawing board. Then I thought, what would personally and tragically bind these two together?  So I had the idea that La Reina, the unforgivable evil she is, would commit a killing spree in Union City, that would claim the lives of Belza's family.

So for that work, I promoted La Reina from small time gang member to an untouchable crime lord with a standing history for causing Union City pain.

It’s a story about a Cuban American widower who, after profound tragedy, takes a vigilante role to fight back against crime in the urban parts of Saint Louis and protect her home in Union City. The story unfolds with drama, mystery, and telenovela twists. I have been working on it since the beginning of this year, and I want to take the series toward 90s gritty cinema with Latin-inspired lore.
