Description

My name is Aaron Baker, and I’m the creator and writer of AXE, an original comic series published through my independent imprint, BCG Comics.I’ve been writing stories and poetry for years, but AXE is my first serious effort to take one of my worlds and build it into a complete comic universe. My primary focus is writing. I create the characters, stories, dialogue, mythology, and scripts, and I’m looking for an artist who can bring that writing to life visually.

AXE begins as a grounded mystery/action story centered on siblings Justin and Jessica Axe. As the series progresses, the world becomes much larger, introducing advanced technology, secret organizations, supernatural forces, vampires, and a mythology that continues to expand.

And this project goes well beyond AXE #1.

I’ve developed an interconnected AXE Universe with multiple stories and titles planned. AXE is the main series, but the universe also includes Vampire Nation, Blood Squad, and other planned stories and characters that can cross between titles. Some of these ideas existed as stories long before I began adapting them into comics, and I’m now bringing them together into a shared universe.

I also have original stories and concepts completely outside the AXE Universe that I would eventually like to develop. I’m not looking at comics as a one-project experiment. I want to continue writing, creating new characters and worlds, and building BCG Comics into a home for those stories.

AXE #1 has already been released on GlobalComix as a proof of concept. Issue #2 is fully scripted, with additional issues already written or in development. I also have character profiles, visual references, locations, and extensive world-building material available.

The currently published proof-of-concept uses AI-assisted artwork. I want to be completely transparent about that. The writing, characters, dialogue, story, and universe are my original work. The AI-assisted visuals allowed me to turn the script into something people could actually read and see while I continued developing the project.

My goal now is to find a sequential comic artist who reads AXE and genuinely connects with it.

I’m looking for someone comfortable with character-driven storytelling, action and fight choreography, modern city environments, tactical elements, science fiction, supernatural material, and quieter dialogue-heavy scenes. Character consistency and visual storytelling are especially important to me.

I’m not expecting an artist to blindly commit to an entire ongoing series. I’m open to starting small—talking about the project, looking at each other’s work, possibly trying a few pages, and seeing whether we work well together.

I’m open to discussing page rates and other collaboration arrangements depending on the artist, scope, and circumstances.

Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who wants to be involved because the story and characters interest them. I already know what AXE is as a story. What I’m looking for is the right artist who can bring their own talent and artistic voice to the visual side of that world.

And while this listing is specifically about finding an artist for AXE, there is considerably more behind it. If a great creative partnership develops, there are other characters, titles, stories, and entirely different worlds waiting to be explored.

If that sounds interesting, take a look at AXE #1 here on GlobalComix and apply to the listing. I’d be happy to share additional scripts, character information, and project material with artists interested in learning more.
