RATES ARE NEGOTIABLE! LISTED RATES ARE NOT IMPLACABLE.

howdy all, Matthew Werner from We Are Legion here! someone over on r/ComicBookCollabs recommended I post here, since we at our studio are continuing to look for people who can create new, interesting characters for our We Are Legion imprint, so let me lay some things out quickly:howdy again, I thought I'd post here since we're continuing to look for people who can create new, interesting characters for our We Are Legion imprint, so let me lay some things out quickly:

people must be able to actually work on any comics featuring their pitches in some capacity, whether as a comics writer and/or prose author, character designer, interior penciller/inker/colorist (any/or), letterer, editor, or cover artist. we are not interested in "ideas guys" offering us basic concepts and then expecting royalties from someone else's hard work to make those ideas into something. you retain full creative ownership (or divided by any co-creators as you negotiate with them), we only ask for exclusive publishing rights for any stories that we finance and may negotiate other terms as the need may arise. creators who would be debutantes upon publication by us are just as welcome as established "talents", though portfolios are welcome. what kinds of characters are we not interested in?: I would say, nothing that promotes bigotry/fascism; nothing that would necessitate rewriting any of our existing lore, bits of worldbuilding, or other characters to retrofit them in--adding to the lore and worldbuilding is copacetic, but if for instance you pitch a character whose whole thing is that they've killed every demon in existence, we're not going to laboriously change all of our demonic characters and ruin all of the cool stuff that has been built on those foundations to fit a single character in. minor tweaks, and major additions are, however, welcome.
the goal is that we will fund short comics (1-6 pages, generally) and/or prose short stories featuring these characters, as well as connecting you with and commissioning professional designers to bring these creations to life (if you are a character designer creating the character, we would pay you to design the character and then commission the short's interior team as needed, so it may be vice versa). this way, we can give these stories a test run, give creators new to the medium a chance to grow before tossing them onto a 50+ issue ongoing series or 400 page novel, the potential a story could have in a longer context, and gauge audience interest (though we weigh this with how good we think the stories are). rates: we offer a base page rate of $25 USD/per page for writers, which we will not go below. rates for other positions are negotiable since there's less of a "standard" there. that being said, please do not lowball. if we think you're lowballing, we'll just raise your rates. :) those who have messaged about this previously, feel free to contact me again.you can contact me preferably (so I can keep things in one place) via Discord at GolemLeviathan#2711, or through mwindustries2016 at gmail dot com if you'd prefer (though I must warn that I am slower to respond there). I can respond through Reddit chat, but I frequently forget about it, so I wouldn't advise contacting through there if you can avoid it. please tell me your pronouns (if you're comfortable to), if you have already have a partner/co-creator, and share with me a portfolio or samples if you have them. people must be able to actually work on any comics featuring their pitches in some capacity, whether as a comics writer and/or prose author, character designer, interior penciller/inker/colorist (any/or), letterer, editor, or cover artist. we are not interested in "ideas guys" offering us basic concepts and then expecting royalties from someone else's hard work to make those ideas into something. we do not accept anyone who is involved in ComicsGate (if you're genuinely neutral and just did work-for-hire on a CG-affiliated comic, that's fine), or who is a TERF or abuser. also, please no more bona fide Neo-Nazis.
