We’re a startup producing a comic series. This is a work-for-hire opportunity for artists who are early in their careers, looking to gain experience and contribute to a structured, long-form project.
The series will span 300–400 pages, with a focus on consistency, clarity, and collaborative workflow. We’re hiring for multiple roles—including Penciler, Inker, Colorist, Letterist, and Illustrator—and welcome applicants who are open to taking on more than one role.
Rates are below industry standard, but we offer defined payment milestones, a completion bonus for qualifying roles, and a transparent working process.

💰 Compensation Structure

Guaranteed Total Pay:
• Penciler or Colorist: $2800 for 400 pages + $1000 bonus = $3800
• Inker or Letterist: $1200 for 400 pages (no bonus)
Even if the final page count is less than 400 (e.g., 365), artists will still be paid for 400 pages + applicable bonus.

📜 Terms & Expectations
• Work-for-hire agreement

• Failure to complete a chapter forfeits payment for that chapter

🎭 Role Descriptions
✏️ Penciler
• Translate script into dynamic, sequential pencil layouts
• Ensure character consistency, panel clarity, and dramatic composition
• Collaborate on character scale sheets and design iterations
• Incorporate feedback and revisions
• Eligible for $1000 completion bonus
🖋️ Inker
• Ink penciled pages with clean, expressive linework
• Preserve energy and clarity of original pencils
• Prepare pages for coloring
• No bonus; paid per completed chapter
🌈 Colorist
• Apply flat and rendered color to inked pages
• Establish mood, lighting, and palette consistency
• Deliver layered files suitable for lettering
• Eligible for $1000 completion bonus
✍️ Letterist
• Place dialogue, captions, and sound effects
• Maintain legibility and visual harmony
• Proofread and format final page files
• No bonus; paid per completed chapter
🎨 Illustrator
• Create character turnarounds, expression sheets, and promotional art
• Contribute splash pages, cover art, and worldbuilding visuals
• Paid per piece, based on complexity and scope
• May also serve as Penciler, Colorist, or Designer

🔄 Multi-Role Eligibility
Artists may take on multiple roles if qualified. For example:
• A Penciler may also serve as Inker
• A Colorist may also handle Lettering
• An Illustrator may contribute to Character Designs and Sequential Art
Compensation is calculated per role, and multi-role contributors will receive combined payments and bonuses accordingly. This is ideal for versatile artists looking to expand their portfolio and maximize earnings.
