I forget that this takes place in the 50s because everything presented here seems timeless. Which is something I like.

@Jsowder I'm really glad you like that device. The time period isn't massively integral to the story but I wanted to set it in that time just after WW2 when there was a huge boom in Catholic church uptake all over the world and there actually were these groups of nuns and missionaries that went out to set up communities in places that must have been very alien to them.
