The hum was the first sign. A low, vibrating thrum that settled deep in the Trailblazers’ paws. Franklin the Fox, usually so keen-eared, barely registered it until it made the pine needles tremble. He glanced at Robbie the Raccoon, whose mask-like face was creased with concern. “What is that infernal racket?” Bradford the Badger grumbled, emerging from his sett, dust clinging to his bristly fur. Bruce the Beaver, gnawing industriously on a branch, simply twitched his nose. “Smells like… metal? And… fire?”
