Pete Vasquez aspires to become the world's greatest hero by surpassing his mentor, The Akai Hiro, and fights crime in NYC with his student Shayla Harrison and The Others, but when a clash with a super villain called The Frenchman reveals a shared past connection, tensions rise between Pete and The Others' leader, Elisaveta Markovski, who disagrees with Pete's view that being a hero requires taking matters into his own hands and argues that vigilantism leads to chaos and undermines the rule of law.
