While exploring an old abandoned house, Catie finds something strange. A cursed VHS tape that traps their soul inside an old children's cartoon. Now living their life as a cartoon cat, will Catie be able to escape this strange place filled with allure and lies, or will they end up staying in this fantastical new world even if that means forfeiting both their memories and identity?
Well, nothing much to say about this chapter (except that it took - again - three weeks instead of two).
So it was indeed true that Od-Dog and Catie knew each other from before, which also explains why his memory returned for a short moment when they danced together. And his name might be Ollie, too, as someone suggested.
And I was right (in some way) that the 'Doorman' is indeed a 'door' of some sort, but as it seems to memory.
It should also be noted that when Catie gets 'bitten', we get the same effect as we got when Monkey ended his game.. but there is too little info yet to speculate.
And as (I guess was established), Catie is left-handed, while Elephant and Od-Dog are right handed... and for that, escpecially Catie switches her 'knife hand' quite often, even when they were not under attack yet...

I’m starting to realize that their outfit in da real world will shape into who they are in the backwards house. for example, catie’s beanie being like a cat and black and the yellow fishbone. So catie’s main color is black, related to a cat, and her accessorie is a yellow bow
I had a therory before that someone wouldve died, but I was thinking the elephant. yknow catie is the main character, they wouldnt kill them off, and od-dog just got an eye shine for a short amount of time in chapter 9, so i really dont think they would kill him off. so the elephant seemed like the next logical choice, but uhh nope 🥹
OH ALSO, its interesting seeing their outfits colors and everything to relate to how they look in the backwards house. (which kinda confirms that the human is od-dog) I think I like Catie's design more than od-dogs, but his still looks good, I just like theirs a little more

... now that I think of it, when Od-Dog called Catie a 'good liar', the short memory she saw then, that wasn't her, her 'outfit style' does not match. But it seems to match Od-Dogs sweater...

What do you mean? In the previous chapter, at one point Od-Dog tells Catie that she is a pretty good liar (after she told Mother she wants to fix Od-Dog 2.0). Catie then sees a short piece of memory, and I originally thought it was showing her Real Life self, suggesting she lied at some point. But seeing her Real Life self now, the clothing from that memory does not fit. But it fits the clothes of her partner.
Also, Skynix might want to fix a few things... they forgot the caros on the back of Od-Dog's sweater, and when we first see Catie's real self, the yellow fish is mirrored. But oh well...
@MeirFenix: Also, Od-dog breaking their leg in real life likely connects to the previous chapter with the Disco Performance that Od-dog and Catie did together, and I think that when Od-dog told Katie not to drop him, he had already remembered and realized who Katie was.
(which I know may be just going over what we've previously discussed in the comment section, but I'm trying to think of other connections to the plot)
About designs... is it just me, or did Curious Cat just got a bit taller and her head smaller? And her tail is placed so low that it actually seems to stick in her... um..

don't worry guys we still have 3 chapters to go before volume one ends while yes catie may or may not be dead we won't know til the 11th chapter comes out for all we know they will wake up in there room like it was an actual nightmare though all we can do is speculate for the next 2 to 3 weeks

Definitely NOT the end. This most obvious is just a 'flashback' from the past. Also, Od-Dog's leg is not broken, just injured a bit, otherwise he would not be able to walk on it, and it must be something that happened 'recently', otherwise Catie wouldn't still be so glum about it.
Also, most likely Od-Dog once was caught by the Doorman just like Catie was now. The Doorman seems to open his mouth only when he caught you, and Od-Dog clearly drew him with his mouth open in the sketchbook. Dunno if that means anything except that his 'bite' is probably not deadly / not meant to kill. That's why Catie's tail isn't stretched taut at that moment, indicating a "Waugh!!" ;)
... why do all the nightmares always seem to smile (if they have faces) except when they face Mother?

Also makes sense how od-dog remembered who he was after dancing together with catie as it reminded him of what they used to do in the real world together :3

In the dance battle ep, Od dog hides his eyes the whole time so we dont see the sparkle until the end. He also hides his eyes on the page before just after they go onto the stage it hides his eyes until he puts his glasses on hinting that he remembered earlier on.

As I noted before, there is a good chance that this 'Doorman' represents a door himself, so Catie did most likely not die.
Also, seeing that Od-Dog drew the Doorman with his mouth open, and he obviously seems to open it only when he caught someone. Od-Dog most likely went though the same ordeal.
This also raises the thought when Od-Dog said he was 'too late' it could also have meant something else, maybe 'too late to say sorry to Catie' , but not meaning 'his body died'...

Ii doubt he put on the classes to hide anything, it was just part of his outfit.... and a nice 'plot device' to catch the reader by surprise when he takes the glasses off. Plot-wise, most likely he regained his memory the moment the dance ended, when Catie caught him. And lost it againi when Catie dropped him.
They should have gotten themselves some railguns... if Monkey can pull out a whole game setting + studio lights, and Catie / Od pulling dance clothing from nowhere, that too should have been possible.
If Doorman is THIS big, where does he go when he has to... um...
this is peak and I am going to say what I think might happen next now so what I think is this is probably not gonna happen but what if Catie wakes up like in her bed after that happens like they can’t die somehow like every possibility of escaping you can think of besides whatever Od-Dog almost did is impossible and maybe Od-Dog injured his leg in some dance thing since Catie is good at dancing and they might have done a dance competition together? I don’t know this is pretty dumb
I guess what happens now is what happened to Od-Dog 'back then'. It's doubtful he had a chance against the Doorman, and he saw him with the mouth open, so he fought, lost (thus the bleeding and blue eye), got grabbed, eaten, and the Doorman's mouth lead to Mother's room. He found the key, and returned with it.
All other explanations seem too 'complex' at this point. Maybe the Doorman opens the (mouth-)door only for those with a burning desire or strong will/intention to get to Mother's room?
Now I'm *curious* to see the other characters' human selves. They match their alternates so nicely. Mother practically puts the humans through a cartoon animal machine 😂
@GrabbingIntricateOwl945: I bet you're onto something. "The Doorman" is the last thing Od drew in his sketchbook before forgetting his name. Why call it that if he didn't find out the hard way it was a door? I'm concerned about that crunch though...
I think that "the Doorman" is LITERALLY the thing around Mother's room, and the mouth is the door. That's why Od-Dog had the drawing of him in the same position. (Like the Cursed Realm/Preeminent from Ninjago.)

Definitely NOT the end. This most obvious is just a 'flashback' from the past. Also, Od-Dog's leg is not broken, just injured a bit, otherwise he would not be able to walk on it, and it must be something that happened 'recently', otherwise Catie wouldn't still be so glum about it.
Also, most likely Od-Dog once was caught by the Doorman just like Catie was now. The Doorman seems to open his mouth only when he caught you, and Od-Dog clearly drew him with his mouth open in the sketchbook. Dunno if that means anything except that his 'bite' is probably not deadly / not meant to kill. That's why Catie's tail isn't stretched taut at that moment, indicating a "Waugh!!" ;)
... why do all the nightmares always seem to smile (if they have faces) except when they face Mother?

@MaioCendes16: There is still a whole lot more in the series. These types of cliffhangers are for suspense. After what was very likely Catie's death, she will probably come back some way. This was just a flashback, which reveals human Catie and Od were in a dance competition before getting trapped in The Backwards House.

This also explains how their dance in the House triggered Od's memory (suggested by the shine in his eyes). Poor guy literally got flashbacks of last time. Too bad he didn't stay like that for long.
Now, we don't know if that flashback was actually something Catie remembered as she was being crunched alive, or just for us.
We know that the nightmare from Od's sketchbook is the same one in the basement (his name is the title of this chapter). How did Od see it from that angle?
One final theory: his real name might start with "Od," which is why it's spelled like that. A lot of people think it's Oliver, but we'll see.

In the dance battle ep, Od dog hides his eyes the whole time so we dont see the sparkle until the end. He also hides his eyes on the page before just after they go onto the stage it hides his eyes until he puts his glasses on hinting that he remembered earlier on.

As I noted before, there is a good chance that this 'Doorman' represents a door himself, so Catie did most likely not die.
Also, seeing that Od-Dog drew the Doorman with his mouth open, and he obviously seems to open it only when he caught someone. Od-Dog most likely went though the same ordeal.
This also raises the thought when Od-Dog said he was 'too late' it could also have meant something else, maybe 'too late to say sorry to Catie' , but not meaning 'his body died'...

Ii doubt he put on the classes to hide anything, it was just part of his outfit.... and a nice 'plot device' to catch the reader by surprise when he takes the glasses off. Plot-wise, most likely he regained his memory the moment the dance ended, when Catie caught him. And lost it againi when Catie dropped him.

this is peak and I am going to say what I think might happen next now so what I think is this is probably not gonna happen but what if Catie wakes up like in her bed after that happens like they can’t die somehow like every possibility of escaping you can think of besides whatever Od-Dog almost did is impossible and maybe Od-Dog injured his leg in some dance thing since Catie is good at dancing and they might have done a dance competition together? I guess what happens now is what happened to Od-Dog 'back then'. It's doubtful he had a chance against the Doorman, and he saw him with the mouth open, so he fought, lost (thus the bleeding and blue eye), got grabbed, eaten, and the Doorman's mouth lead to Mother's room. He found the key, and returned with it.
All other explanations seem too 'complex' at this point. Maybe the Doorman opens the (mouth-)door only for those with a burning desire or strong will/intention to get to Mother's room?

I think that "the Doorman" is LITERALLY the thing around Mother's room, and the mouth is the door. That's why Od-Dog had the drawing of him in the same position. (Like the Cursed Realm/Preeminent from Ninjago.)
