The Golden Age of comic books had no shortage of ambition. Publishers could print almost anything, but the public wouldn't accept everything, and plenty of what got printed vanished just as fast as it appeared. Everyone wanted a piece of the comics boom, and that scramble gave the world thousands of characters who got one shot and then disappeared, forgotten for reasons that ranged from bad writing to bad luck to just bad timing. This book collects a handful of those characters and their original comics, alongside a look at why each one failed. They're the abandoned and this is their story.
