Having received a dubious newspaper clipping of their uncle's obituary, August and Cora arrive in Oreth, a small village near the border, in hopes of learning more about the circumstances of his disappearance seven years ago. Cora's eager to get to know his brother but it becomes painfully obvious that August's unconventional beliefs might lead them into trouble.
