PEP Comic #196

Pep Comic Issue 196 includes the story “Veronica in My Plan Ol' Self”. Veronica brags to Betty that Archie loves her for her "plain old self," not her flashy car and clothes — but the second she's alone, Betty's needling jab won't leave her head. Rattled, she runs home to her father demanding to know if he thinks Archie's affection is real, and when he brushes her off, she talks him into a wild scheme to test it once and for all. Will Mr. Lodge really agree to pretend the Lodges are penniless — and if he does, will Archie's love survive the con? Other stories in this issue include “Archie in East Wing or Bust“, “Li'l Jinx in Game Time”, “Archie in And The World Laughs With You!”, and more. Originally running from 1940 all the way into the '80s, PEP was the platform for Archie's first appearance in 1941 and introduced many of the Riverdale citizens that the world still follows over 80 years later.
