Issue 173
PEP Comic #173
Pep Comic Issue 173 includes the story “Archie in Sonny Boy”. Principal Weatherbee has just reviewed Archie's records and delivers his verdict — not a complete vegetable, but dangerously close — then kicks him out the door in a purple rage. Jughead plants a wild idea in the rattled Archie's head: Weatherbee actually loves him like a son, and all that grief is just fatherly concern in disguise. Archie buys it hook, line, and sinker — but will treating the Bee like dear old Dad end well, or blow up spectacularly in his face? Other stories in this issue include “Archie in Mop Up“, “Li'l Jinx in The List!”, “Josie in All Unstrung”, and more. Originally running from 1940 all the way into the '80s, PEP was the platform for Archie's first appearance in 1941 and introduced many of the Riverdale citizens that the world still follows over 80 years later.
