Issue 171
PEP Comic #171
Pep Comic Issue 171 includes the story “Archie in Eye, Eye, Sir”. Caught red-handed reading a hypnotism book, Principal Weatherbee ignores Miss Grundy's objections and calls Archie straight into his office — swinging his shiny gold pocket watch and commanding him to be a model student for the rest of the day. The watch gleams, Archie's eyes go glassy, and just like that, Riverdale's most notorious troublemaker is putty in the principal's hands. But is Archie truly hypnotized — or is he playing Weatherbee for a fool? Other stories in this issue include “Jughead in Thanks for the Memory“, “Li'l Jinx in The Money Watcher!”, “Josie in Fiddle Faddle”, and more. Originally running from 1940 all the way into the '80s, PEP was the platform for Archie's first appearance in 1941 and introduced many of the Riverdale citizens that the world still follows over 80 years later.
