Every Winter, the near entirety of the species dies. The PaperWasps of Bisbee, AZ chuck their Queen in the clay, so that she may survive until spring. The males then wait for the frost. They wait for dying. These nasty males are known as “Drones.” Our story follows a fellow who wasn’t too keen of dying.   “Slick Prick” PaperWing becomes the first “Drone” to live through the cold of winter. Outgunning Lawmen, Gangs, and the beasts of the Bisbee wild on his way. He and his trusty horsefly, Famine, awaken in the new Spring to find familiar faces seeking revenge. Haunted and guided by the ghost of the outlaw that took his wings, Slick Prick discovers his sanity is slipping due to an unavoidable truth. That drones were born to die. The consequences of his seasonal survival mount as he differs reality from the delusions of his failing mind.
