is there a explanation why the blood from the infected is black?

I don’t know if there is any explanation to why they could not have infected the undead with the tech virus. are the just not able to convert dead tissue. but that doesn’t explain why they couldn’t just enhance the virus or make a new strain that could target the undead or the parasites that controls them.
