From the excuses bucket

Come to think of it, back in 1978 the information bubble was alive and well, except for the number of crazy people congratulating each other on the outside. Even then you listened to your flavor of news, bought your flavor of newspaper, and suddenly the world seemed headed to the right direction, where most people wanted to go, while those who resisted would be buried by the sands of time. Meanwhile, there wasn't much left other than to hit the beach!
